Sumotherhood

Riko and Kane are two friends with big ambitions but little respect and a substantial debt hanging over them. Determined to be taken seriously, they set out to raise money through a series of ill-judged criminal schemes, targeting a celebrity in a nightclub toilet and then a local bank. Nothing goes according to plan, and a misunderstanding draws them into dealings with an established gang in east London.

Adam Deacon directs and stars as Riko, with Jazzie Zonzolo as Kane. Deacon shares writing credits with Michael Vu and Jazzie Zonzolo, and produces alongside Finn Bruce. The supporting cast includes Jennifer Saunders as DI Brookes, Ed Sheeran as Crack Ed, Charlie Sloth as himself and Denise Van Outen as a nurse, among a credited cast of forty-two. The film runs ninety-seven minutes and mixes action, comedy and crime in a British setting.

Released in October 2023, the film took in around three million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds a rating of 4.6 from roughly 1,300 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 5.2 from a much smaller pool of sixteen votes. Both figures place audience response in modest territory.
