Asterix the Gaul

Set in 50 BC, this story takes place in Gaul, where a small village resists the Roman Empire. The inhabitants maintain their independence by using a magic potion created by their druid, which grants them superhuman strength. A Roman centurion, determined to defeat the village and gain power, discovers the secret of this potion and kidnaps the druid to force him to reveal the formula. The conflict centers on the attempts of Asterix and his companions to rescue their friend from the Roman camp.

This French-Belgian animated adventure was directed by Ray Goossens. The voice cast features Roger Carel as Asterix, Jacques Morel as Obelix, Pierre Tornade as Caius Bonus, and Lucien Raimbourg as Panoramix. The film was produced by Belvision and Dargaud Films.
