Short description
Bitter and hateful, the Grinch is irritated at the thought of a nearby village having a happy time celebrating Christmas. Disguised as Santa Claus, with his dog made to look like a reindeer, he decides to raid the village to steal all the Christmas things.

What's left behind the scenes

  • Dr. Seuss (1904-1991), the author of the tale on which the cartoon is based, opposed Boris Karloff's (1887-1969) involvement in the project, believing that his Grinch would be too frightening.
  • Boris Karloff speaks in his own voice as the Narrator, but changes his voice for the role of the Grinch. After his voice as the Grinch had been recorded, all the high tones were additionally removed from it.
  • The lyrics of the Fahoo Foraze song consist of a set of nonsensical sound combinations deliberately made to resemble Latin. After the cartoon's release, the studio began receiving letters from viewers asking for a translation of the lyrics from Latin.
