House of the Dead

House of the Dead follows a group of college students who travel to a remote island for a rave party. After missing the last official ferry, they pay a local skipper to take them across, unaware that a Coast Guard officer is trailing them. What awaits on the island is not a celebration but an attack by zombies and other creatures that strike from the ground, the air and the water, controlled by a sinister force dwelling in a house on the island. The students must arm themselves and fight to survive against enemies who are already dead.

Uwe Boll directed the film, the second of the twenty features he has directed in chronological order, arriving between Sanctimony and Alone in the Dark. Mark A. Altman and Dave Parker wrote the screenplay, and Boll produced alongside Wolfgang Herold and Shawn Williamson. The cast includes Jonathan Cherry, Tyron Leitso, Clint Howard, Ona Grauer, Sonya Salomaa and Ellie Cornell, with 28 credited cast members and 140 credited crew. The film is a German, Canadian, American and Japanese co-production, made for about 12 million USD and taking roughly 14 million USD worldwide. Audiences have been harsh: it holds 2.1 out of 10 on IMDb from around 40,000 votes and 3.1 out of 10 on TMDB from 436 votes. A critics' rating of 2.5 out of 10 from 59 reviews places professional opinion close to the audience verdict.
