The Shift

Kevin Garner finds himself cast out of his own world after a confrontation with a strange figure who calls himself the Benefactor. This stranger claims the ability to move people between parallel realities, and Kevin is sent into a harsh, authoritarian version of Earth. Separated from his wife Molly, he has to find a way back to her while surviving in a place ruled by the Benefactor's power. The film blends fantasy, science fiction and thriller elements around this struggle between two worlds.

The Shift was directed and written by Brock Heasley and produced by Ken Carpenter and Heasley. Kristoffer Polaha plays Kevin, with Neal McDonough as the Benefactor, Elizabeth Tabish as Molly and Sean Astin as Gabriel. The production, made through Pinnacle Peak Pictures, Nook Lane Entertainment and Angel Studios, cost about 7 million dollars and took in roughly 12 million dollars worldwide, a return of close to twice its budget. The credited cast numbers 53 and the crew 105.

Audience responses were moderate. On IMDb it holds 5.6 out of 10 from around 6,400 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.4 out of 10 from about 101 votes. A critics' rating of 4.9 out of 10 from 30 reviews places it below the audience scores.
