Kinsey

Kinsey is a biographical drama about Alfred Kinsey, the American biologist whose research into human sexual behaviour brought private matters into public view. The story follows Kinsey from his early married life, when difficulties with his wife Clara lead him to realise how little reliable information exists about sex, through his decision to gather that information systematically. He develops lengthy interview questionnaires and trains a team of researchers to collect accounts from thousands of Americans, work that becomes increasingly personal for him as well. When the findings are published, they provoke a national scandal, with media and religious institutions condemning both the results and the man behind them.

Bill Condon wrote and directed the film, his third feature after Candyman: Farewell to the Flesh and Gods and Monsters, and he went on to direct Dreamgirls and later films including Mr. Holmes and Beauty and the Beast. Liam Neeson plays Kinsey, with Laura Linney as Clara, and supporting turns from Chris O'Donnell, Peter Sarsgaard, Timothy Hutton and John Lithgow among a cast of 34 credited performers.

Made for about 11 million dollars, the film earned roughly 17 million worldwide. On IMDb it holds a rating of 7 out of 10 from around 53,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.6 from 537 votes. A critics' score of 7.9 from 193 reviews is noticeably higher than the audience ratings.
