Short description
Set in a dystopian future, this science fiction thriller follows Misha Galkin, a man who discovers a global conspiracy. In this society, powerful corporations use psychological manipulation and branding to keep the population passive and disillusioned. As Misha attempts to expose the truth and dismantle this artificial reality, he enters into a conflict with the hidden forces that govern the world.
The film was directed by Aleksandr Dulerayn and Jamie Bradshaw, who also served as producers and wrote the screenplay. This project followed their previous collaboration, The Offshore Reserves, released in 2004. The movie features a cast including Ed Stoppard, Leelee Sobieski, Max von Sydow, Jeffrey Tambor, and Ingeborga Dapkūnaitė.
Produced by Bomar OOD and Mirumir in Russia, the film earned 4 million USD at the worldwide box office. Audience reception is mixed, with a 6.6 rating on IMDb based on 466 votes, while it holds a lower score of 4.7 on TMDB from 201 votes.
What's left behind the scenes
- When Misha and Bob are standing on the Patriarch Bridge with a view of the Kremlin, the plot is set sometime in the second half of the 90s; however, the bridge did not yet exist, as it was constructed in 2004 and opened in 2005.
