Short description
Captain Colter Stevens, a decorated American soldier, wakes aboard a Chicago commuter train with no memory of how he got there. A woman beside him talks to him as if she knows him, and the reflection in the mirror belongs to someone else. Minutes later the train is torn apart by a bomb. Colter comes to inside a confined capsule, where a military officer and a scientist explain that he is taking part in a secret government experiment. Through it he can occupy the body of a passenger during the eight minutes before the blast, and he must repeat those minutes until he identifies the bomber and stops a second, larger attack planned for the same day.
Duncan Jones directed, following his debut Moon, and Ben Ripley wrote the screenplay. Jake Gyllenhaal plays Colter, with Michelle Monaghan as Christina, Vera Farmiga as the officer overseeing the mission, and Jeffrey Wright as the project's scientist. Made for about 32 million dollars, it returned roughly 147 million worldwide.
On IMDb the film holds 7.5 out of 10 from around 580,000 votes, on TMDB 7.3 from over 9,400, while critics gave it 7.5 from 262 reviews. Released in 2011.

- Vera Farmiga stated that she agreed to the role at the beginning of her pregnancy in February 2010. She knew she would be unavailable for the next 10 months. All scenes with her were filmed within 10 days.
- Notably, the father of Captain Colter Stevens is voiced by Scott Bakula – an actor known for his leading role in the series “Quantum Leap,” which covered a similar theme and precisely replicates the main stylistic elements of “Source Code.”
