A youth baseball team from Fort Worth dedicates its season to the seriously ill father of one of its players. The group, written off by others, keeps winning and earns a place at the 2002 Little League World Series, where its run ends in a game that drew wide attention. The story follows the players, their families and their coach as the team's progress puts them in the national spotlight.
You Gotta Believe is a 2024 family drama directed by Ty Roberts, who wrote the screenplay with Lane Garrison. It is Roberts's second feature, following 12 Mighty Orphans in 2021. Luke Wilson plays Bobby Ratliff, with Greg Kinnear as Coach Jon Kelly, Sarah Gadon as Patti Ratliff and Molly Parker as Kathy Kelly; Lew Temple and Joaquin Roberts also appear among a credited cast of 37. The film runs 104 minutes and was produced by Media Finance Capital and Santa Rita Film Co. in the United Kingdom and the United States.
Released on August 30, 2024, the film took in about 1 million USD worldwide. On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.9 out of 10 from roughly 1,800 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 7.3 out of 10 from a much smaller base of 52 votes, a gap that reflects how few users have rated it there.
