A production company called DangerTainment recruits a group of young people to spend a night inside the childhood home of Michael Myers, the killer at the centre of the Halloween series, while cameras stream their stay online. The participants expect a staged scare and a shot at money or attention, but Myers comes home, and the night turns into a fight to get out alive.
Rick Rosenthal directed, working from a screenplay by Sean Hood and Larry Brand. Rosenthal had already made Halloween II in 1981, and this film sits among the titles he directed between Devlin in 1992 and Drones in 2013. Bianca Kajlich plays Sara Moyer, Busta Rhymes appears as Freddie Harris, Brad Loree plays Michael Myers, and Sean Patrick Thomas, Ryan Merriman and Daisy McCrackin are among the credited cast of thirty-three.
Made for about 13 million US dollars, the film took roughly 38 million worldwide. Audiences have rated it 3.9 out of 10 on IMDb from around 54,000 votes, and 4.6 out of 10 on TMDB. A critics' score of 3.6 out of 10 from 71 reviews is close to the audience figures, so the two groups largely agree in their low assessment. The film runs 89 minutes.
