Nicotina

Nicotina is a crime comedy set in Mexico City over the course of a single night. Lolo, a computer hacker with a heavy smoking habit, has secretly filled his neighbor Andrea's apartment with cameras and microphones, watching her every move. He has also broken into Swiss bank accounts, and he and his associates Nene and Tomson intend to sell the access codes to Russian criminals. When Andrea discovers the surveillance and takes her anger out on Lolo's apartment, the discs in his possession get mixed up, and he arrives at the meeting with the wrong one. From there, several characters chasing the same payoff collide.

The film was directed by Hugo Rodríguez from a screenplay by Martín Salinas, and it was his first feature, followed years later by Rubirosa 3. Diego Luna plays Lolo, with Lucas Crespi, Norman Sotolongo, Marta Belaustegui, Jesús Ochoa and Martha Tenorio in supporting roles. It is a co-production between Argentina, Spain and Mexico.

Released in October 2003, the film took about 6 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds 6.5 out of 10 from roughly 3,900 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.7 from a much smaller base of 95 votes. A critics' rating of 5.9 from 45 reviews places it somewhat below the audience scores.
