That Championship Season follows four middle-aged men who gather at their former basketball coach's home for a reunion, two decades after the Pennsylvania championship they won together. What begins as a friendly get-together between the old teammates and their ailing coach gradually turns into a confrontation, as long-buried grievances surface and the men are forced to face what they have become and what they mean to one another. The evening pushes them to speak honestly for the first time, and by the end they consider reuniting the team that claimed that championship in 1957.
The film is a drama directed by Jason Miller, who also wrote the screenplay, adapting his own Pulitzer Prize-winning play. It was produced by Menahem Golan and Yoram Globus for Cannon Group and Golan-Globus Productions, and it runs 110 minutes. The cast is led by Bruce Dern, Stacy Keach, Robert Mitchum, Martin Sheen and Paul Sorvino, with Arthur Franz appearing as Macken. On IMDb the film holds a 6.3 rating from 773 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 5.3 from 11 votes, indicating a modest, limited reception.
