Agnes & Amir

Upcoming comedy-drama Agnes & Amir follows the unlikely connection between a gay man who has recently escaped Iran and a 101-year-old woman in Berlin. To avoid moving into a nursing home, the senior citizen takes in the young refugee as a roommate. While their arrangement begins as a practical necessity marked by skepticism, the two individuals eventually provide each other with emotional support and a new outlook on life.

The film is directed by Helena Hufnagel, following her 2023 work Silver and the Book of Dreams. The production was handled by StudioCanal, X Filme Creative Pool, and Nordpolaris, with a screenplay written by Malte Welding and Paul M. Feldmann. The movie stars Bardo Böhlefeld as Amir and Katharina Thalbach as Agnes. Produced by Florian Kamhuber, Daniela Ebeling, and Fabian Halbig, the German production has a runtime of 108 minutes.
