Sabrina

Sabrina Fairchild has spent her life on the Long Island estate where her father works as the chauffeur for the wealthy Larrabee family, and she has long been infatuated with David, the younger Larrabee son, a carefree playboy who never noticed her. After time away in Paris, she returns transformed into a poised and confident woman, and David suddenly takes an interest in her, even though he is engaged to be married. His engagement is tied to a business merger that matters greatly to the family, so his older brother Linus steps in, apparently to keep Sabrina away from David. Linus is a serious, calculating businessman, and it becomes unclear whether his own growing involvement with Sabrina is genuine or simply a way of protecting the family's plans.

Sydney Pollack directed this romantic comedy drama, his fourteenth film as director, following The Firm and preceding Random Hearts. The screenplay is by David Rayfiel and Barbara Benedek, and Pollack produced with Scott Rudin. Harrison Ford plays Linus, Julia Ormond plays Sabrina, and Greg Kinnear plays David, with Nancy Marchand, John Wood and Richard Crenna in supporting roles. It is a remake of a 1954 film of the same name.

Made on a budget of about 58 million dollars, the film took in roughly 54 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds 6.3 out of 10 from around 47,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.2 out of 10 from about 715 votes. A critics' rating of 6.6 out of 10 from 55 reviews places it slightly above the audience scores.
