The Gendarme and the Gendarmettes

The gendarmes of Saint-Tropez move into a new building equipped with modern technology, and they are also given four young women recruits to train. The officers compete for the chance to work with the new colleagues, and their enthusiasm causes considerable disruption. The situation grows more serious when the recruits are abducted one by one, putting Cruchot's position and the standing of his brigade under threat as he and his men try to find them.

The film is a comedy directed by Jean Girault, the thirteenth of the thirteen films listed in his directing credits in chronological order, following Oh Dear Harry! Tony Aboyantz also directed. Gérard Beytout, Jean Girault and Jacques Vilfrid wrote the screenplay, and Beytout produced. Louis de Funès leads the cast as Maréchal des Logis-chef Ludovic Cruchot, alongside Michel Galabru, Maurice Risch, Jacques François, Guy Grosso and Michel Modo. Twenty-seven cast members are credited.

Released in France in October 1982, the film runs 100 minutes. On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.2 from around 9,100 votes, and on TMDB a rating of 6 from some 612 votes, indicating a modest but steady level of viewer interest decades after its release.
