Three Days of the Condor
Short description
Joseph Turner works as a researcher for a CIA unit in New York that operates behind the front of a literary society, where he studies spy and detective fiction for techniques the agency might find useful. Returning from a lunch errand, he finds his colleagues murdered. He contacts the agency and is given a meeting, but it turns out to be a trap, and he becomes both a target and a suspect. On the run, he forces a woman named Kathy Hale to help him as he tries to work out who ordered the killings and who, if anyone, he can trust.
Sydney Pollack directed the film, his sixth of seventeen, following The Yakuza and preceding Bobby Deerfield, from a screenplay by Lorenzo Semple Jr. and David Rayfiel. Robert Redford plays Turner, with Faye Dunaway as Kathy, and Cliff Robertson, Max von Sydow, John Houseman and Addison Powell among the credited cast of fifty-one. It was made for about 8 million dollars and took roughly 27 million worldwide.
On IMDb it holds 7.4 out of 10 from around 70,000 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 7.3 from far fewer votes. A critics' rating of 7.6 from 56 reviews sits close to those audience scores, indicating steady approval rather than a sharp split between reviewers and viewers.

- The film takes place in winter, but it was shot in autumn. Before filming began, the leaves had to be stripped from the trees on the streets. Robert Redford personally supervised this process to ensure that no harm was done to the plants.
