Short description

Two brothers working as FBI agents, Marcus and Kevin Copeland, find themselves near the bottom of the bureau's pecking order after a botched undercover operation. When wealthy sisters Brittany and Tiffany Wilson become the targets of a kidnapping plot, the high-profile assignment goes to the brothers' rivals, leaving Marcus and Kevin with the thankless task of escorting the young women from a New York airport to their hotel in the Hamptons. A minor mishap leaves the sisters unwilling to appear at a major social event, and with their careers on the line, the brothers decide to impersonate the two women themselves, disguising themselves to move through the world of lavish parties and high society while trying to identify whoever is behind the threat.

Keenen Ivory Wayans directed and co-wrote the film with Marlon and Shawn Wayans, who also produced and star as the two brothers. It followed his earlier comedies, including Scary Movie and Scary Movie 2, and came before Little Man. The cast also includes Frankie Faison as Chief Elliott Gordon, Terry Crews as Latrell Spencer, Faune Chambers as Gina Copeland and Rochelle Aytes as Denise Porter, with 51 credited cast members and 82 credited crew. On a budget of 37 million dollars, the film took in 113 million worldwide. Audience reactions on IMDb average 5.9 from 191,000 votes, while on TMDB the average is 7 from 4,751 votes. A critics' score of 3.8 from 125 reviews is noticeably lower than the audience ratings.

What's left behind the scenes

  • Initially, Marlon and Shawn Wayans intended to expand the cross-dressing concept into an entire film series, but their enthusiasm waned after they had to spend seven hours a day in makeup during filming.
