Set in colonized Algeria, this historical drama and documentary focuses on Frantz Fanon, a black psychiatrist serving as a head doctor at the Blida-Joinville Hospital. The story follows Fanon as he implements his own social therapy methods, which directly challenge the racist beliefs held by the local psychiatric establishment. This professional struggle takes place against the backdrop of a growing conflict that eventually reaches his own hospital wards.
Written and directed by Abdenour Zahzah, the film is a joint production between France and Algeria by Shellac Sud, CADC, and Atlas Film Production. The production features Alexandre Desane in the lead role of Fanon, supplemented by archive footage of the real Frantz Fanon. The supporting cast includes Gérard Dubouche, Nicolas Dromard, Omar Boulakirba, and Catherine Boskowitz, with a total of 28 credited performers. Released on July 23, 2025, the movie has a runtime of 91 minutes.
