A wealthy couple driving across the country are abducted by a gang of violent highway robbers who hide them away in an isolated house. The captors believe they are holding ordinary victims, but one of the prisoners is not what he appears to be, and the balance of power shifts against the kidnappers, who find themselves being hunted instead.
The film is directed by Ryûhei Kitamura, the seventh of the thirteen features he has made and the one following The Midnight Meat Train. David Cohen wrote the screenplay, and Luke Evans heads the cast as a man calling himself Driver, alongside Adelaide Clemens as Emma, Laura Ramsey as Betty, Lee Tergesen as Hoag, Derek Magyar as Flynn and America Olivo as Tamara. It is a British and American co-production, made through Pathe, WWE Studios, Constance Media and Milk & Media on a budget of roughly three million dollars.
Released in 2013 and running eighty-seven minutes, the horror thriller drew a mixed critical response, with a critics' rating of 4.6 out of ten from thirty-seven reviews. Viewers have been more favourable: on IMDb it holds 6 out of 10 from around twenty-seven thousand votes, and on TMDB it also sits at 6 out of 10, from a much smaller base of just over seven hundred votes.
