Set in the 1940s during a period of global instability, this historical thriller follows Rong Jinzhen, an individual with an extraordinary childhood talent for mathematics. After solving complex problems assigned by a teacher, Rong Jinzhen gains attention and enters the world of cryptanalysis. The story focuses on the effort to accurately and quickly break enemy communication codes, leading to the character's involvement in a secret intelligence struggle to crack a high-level cipher.

Directed by Chen Sicheng, the film followed his work on the Detective Chinatown trilogy. The cast features Liu Haoran, John Cusack, Chen Daoming, Daniel Wu, and Yu Feihong, with Chen Sicheng also appearing in a role. The screenplay was written by Chen Sicheng and Christopher MacBride.
