Hollywoodland

Hollywoodland is a crime drama set in 1950s Los Angeles, built around the death of actor George Reeves, who had become famous to a generation of children as television's Superman. When Reeves is found shot at his home, the police quickly settle on suicide, but his mother refuses to accept that answer and hires private investigator Louis Simo to look into the case. What begins as a routine job pulls Simo into the private lives of the people around Reeves, including the actor's fiancée, Leonore Lemmon, and his connection to Toni Mannix, the wife of a powerful studio executive. Simo's digging forces him to weigh several possible explanations for what happened that night, and the case begins to reflect his own circumstances back at him.

The film was directed by Allen Coulter, his second feature after Golden Years, and written by Paul Bernbaum. Adrien Brody plays Simo, with Diane Lane as Toni Mannix, Ben Affleck as George Reeves, Bob Hoskins as Eddie Mannix, Robin Tunney as Leonore Lemmon and Kathleen Robertson as Carol Van Ronkel. It was released in 2006 and runs 126 minutes.

On IMDb, the film holds a rating of 6.1 out of 10 from 468 votes, while its critics' rating stands at 6.4 out of 10 from 185 reviews, a slightly warmer response from reviewers than from the wider audience. It earned about 17 million dollars worldwide.
