Luke Davenport is the teenage son of the President of the United States, and life in the White House leaves him isolated, hemmed in by security and unable to live like other boys his age. He takes out his frustration on the agent assigned to protect him, and when that agent loses his temper, he is replaced by Sam Simms, a former boxer whose loose approach to protocol sets him apart from his colleagues. Luke initially tries the same tactics on Sam, but the new agent responds differently, and the two gradually build a friendship. Sam teaches Luke to box, helps him navigate life among his peers and supports him through a first date, though Luke's parents have their own views on how their son should be handled.
The film is a Walt Disney Pictures and Caravan Pictures production directed by David Mickey Evans, following his 1993 debut The Sandlot in the chronological list of his features. Tim Kelleher wrote the screenplay, and the cast includes Sinbad as Sam Simms, Brock Pierce as Luke Davenport, Timothy Busfield, Art LaFleur, Robert Guillaume and Blake Boyd among 38 credited performers.
Released in August 1996, the comedy runs 101 minutes. On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.3 from around 12,000 votes, and on TMDB a rating of 5.8 from 211 votes. A critics' rating of 4.3 from 14 reviews places it below even the modest audience scores.
