Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius
Short description
Jimmy Neutron is a ten-year-old inventor living in the quiet town of Retroville, where he spends his time in a secret laboratory building machines and a robot dog named Goddard. When he and his friends sneak out to the newly opened Retroland amusement park, the adults of the town are abducted by the Yokians, a race of green, egg-shaped aliens led by King Goobot V. The children initially enjoy their freedom from parental rules, but the novelty soon wears off. Jimmy takes charge, building a fleet of spacecraft so that he and the other kids can travel into space and bring their parents home.
The film was directed by John A. Davis, who wrote the screenplay with Steve Oedekerk, J. David Stem and David N. Weiss, and who produced it alongside Oedekerk and Keith Alcorn. It was Davis's first feature as director; his second, The Ant Bully, followed in 2006. Debi Derryberry voices Jimmy, with Megan Cavanagh and Mark DeCarlo as his parents, Jeffrey Garcia as his friend Sheen, and Patrick Stewart and Martin Short as the alien rulers. Made on a budget of about 30 million dollars, it took roughly 103 million worldwide.
Audience scores sit at 6.1 out of 10 on IMDb from around 40,000 votes and the same figure on TMDB from about 1,000 votes. A critics' rating of 6.6 out of 10 from 76 reviews places it somewhat above those audience scores.

- When Nick tells a scary story by the campfire, it's a retelling of Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sánchez's film “The Blair Witch Project” (1999).
- It was based on mini-series about Jimmy's everyday life. Goddard’s trick of pretending to be dead is based on a mini-series where Jimmy and Cindy argue about whose pet is better.
- To confirm DNA similarity and gain access to the club, Jimmy uses a hair. Hair does not contain DNA unless skin cells are present.
- King Hubbot was voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson, and later re-voiced by Sir Patrick Stewart.
