Osmosis Jones

Osmosis Jones combines live action and animation to tell the story of Frank Detorre, a zoo worker whose unhealthy habits have turned his body into a bustling city. When he swallows a contaminated hard-boiled egg, a lethal virus called Thrax gets inside him and begins a campaign to destroy his host. Frank's only hope is a renegade white blood cell officer, Osmosis Jones, who teams up with Drix, a cold capsule, to hunt the intruder through the city inside Frank before the infection becomes fatal. Meanwhile, in the live-action world, Frank deals with his daughter and his job while his body fights for survival.

The film was directed by Bobby and Peter Farrelly, their fourth and fifth directing credits respectively, following Me, Myself & Irene and preceding Shallow Hal. Chris Rock voices Osmosis Jones, with Laurence Fishburne as Thrax and David Hyde Pierce as Drix, while Bill Murray plays Frank. Marc Hyman wrote the screenplay, and the film was produced by the Farrellys with Bradley Thomas.

Released in August 2001, the film had a budget of 70 million dollars and returned only about 14 million worldwide, a wide gap that indicates it did not connect with audiences in theaters. On IMDb it holds a 6.3 rating from around 41,000 votes, and on TMDB a 6.5 from roughly 1,100 votes, while its critics' rating stands at 5.9 from 111 reviews, putting professional and audience assessments fairly close together.
