This modern adaptation of the Greek myth centers on Orpheus and Eurydice, whose wedding day ends in tragedy when Eurydice is killed by a gunshot. Devastated by the loss, Orpheus travels to the underworld to retrieve his partner. Accompanied by a mysterious taxi driver, he enters the Grand Hades Hotel, a realm where the line between life and death is blurred. To succeed, he must confront his deepest fears and navigate a surreal environment before a solar eclipse ends. The narrative is integrated with famous operatic arias and set between a partially submerged Paris and the Teatro Regio di Torino.
The film was directed by Paolo Gep Cucco and Davide Livermore, who also co-wrote the screenplay. It is a joint production between Italy and France through RAI Cinema and Showlab. The cast features Vincent Cassel as Charon, Caterina Murino as the Concierge, Fanny Ardant as Proserpina, Rossy de Palma as Moire, Angela Finocchiaro as Calliope, and Charlotte Gentile as Hope. Produced with a budget of 12 million USD, this drama and music film has a runtime of 106 minutes.
