Short description

Volador is a comedy and drama about Mateo, an eighteen-year-old from Mexico living in Grand Rapids. While balancing jobs as a commercial photographer and a part-time cashier at Supermercado Mexico, he struggles with a sense of displacement in an environment he finds monotonous. Living in a house characterized by frequent parties, Mateo feels adrift and considers giving up on his aspirations in the United States to return to Morelia, Mexico. With the support of his friends Aliyah and Dbo, he seeks a different outlook on his situation and the importance of acceptance.

The film was directed by Miguel A. Hernandez and Tessa E. Osborne, who also co-wrote the screenplay alongside Enrique Padilla. The production was handled by Rice Pictures and Aves Films as a joint effort between Mexico and the United States. Miguel A. Hernandez stars in the lead role as Mateo, supported by Gabi Salazar as Aliyah and Brian Shannon as Dbo. The cast also includes David Alberto Luna Martinez, Raul Luna Martinez, and Ezra Benardino. This short film has a total runtime of 15 minutes.
