The Tasters

Set in the autumn of 1943, this historical drama follows Rosa, a young woman from Berlin who travels to the village of Gross-Partsch to stay with her in-laws while her husband serves on the Russian front. After being taken by the SS to a secret location, she is forced to become one of seven women tasked with tasting the food intended for Adolf Hitler to ensure it is not poisoned. The women navigate a precarious existence defined by hunger and the constant threat of death, forming alliances and friendships to survive. Their situation grows more tense upon the arrival of a new commandant, Albert Ziegler, who introduces a climate of fear.

The film was directed by Silvio Soldini, marking his second feature following Come Undone from 2010. He also co-wrote the screenplay alongside Doriana Leondeff and Cristina Comencini. The production was a collaboration between Belgium, Italy, and Switzerland, featuring a cast led by Elisa Schlott as Rosa and Max Riemelt as Ziegler. Other credited roles include Alma Hasun, Emma Falck, Olga von Luckwald, and Thea Rasche.
