Mother

Set in Calcutta in August 1948, this historical drama follows Teresa, the Mother Superior of the Sisters of Loreto. As she awaits official permission to leave her monastery and establish a new religious order, she spends seven pivotal days grappling with internal doubts and dilemmas. The story focuses on the tension between her spiritual calling and the realities of her surroundings as she makes a decision that will define her future.

The film was directed by Teona Strugar Mitevska, marking her second feature following The Happiest Man in the World. The screenplay was a collaboration between Mitevska, Goce Smilevski, and Elma Tataragić. Noomi Rapace stars as Mother Teresa, appearing alongside Nikola Ristanovski, Sylvia Hoeks, Ekin Corapci, Marijke Pinoy, and Labina Mitevska.
