Freddy Got Fingered

Freddy Got Fingered centers on Gord Brody, a twenty-eight-year-old cartoonist with an inflated sense of his own talent. Convinced his drawings deserve a television deal, he leaves his family home in Portland for Los Angeles, where he takes a factory job and pitches his work to an animation executive. Told his ideas make no sense, he returns to his parents' house defeated. There, tensions with his father Jim escalate until Gord retaliates by spreading a false rumor that Jim has abused Gord's younger brother, Freddy.

Tom Green directed the film and co-wrote it with Derek Harvie, and he also stars as Gord. Rip Torn plays the father, with Marisa Coughlan, Eddie Kaye Thomas, Harland Williams and Anthony Michael Hall in supporting roles. The production drew on a budget of about 14 million US dollars and went on to earn roughly the same amount worldwide.

This was Green's first feature as director; a documentary follow-up came much later, in 2025. Audience response has been weak: on IMDb the film holds a rating of 4.6 from more than fifty thousand votes, and on TMDB it sits at 4.8 from a much smaller sample. A critics' rating of 3.2 from around a hundred reviews places it below even those modest audience scores. The credited production involved 45 cast members and 85 crew.
