Mary Cummings is a committed student at American Eagle Christian High School, where she and her best friend Hilary Faye lead the school's devout social circle. Her orderly life is shaken when her boyfriend Dean tells her he thinks he may be gay, and a vision of Jesus urges her to do whatever she can to save him. She sleeps with Dean, hoping to change him, but he is sent away by his parents and Mary discovers she is pregnant, which turns her from one of the school's most popular girls into an outcast, including a boycott led by Hilary Faye. She finds new company among the classmates on the margins, and has to work out what her faith and future now mean.

Saved! was released in 2004. It is a comedy directed by Brian Dannelly, who wrote the screenplay with Michael Urban, and it is the first of the two films he has directed, ahead of Struck by Lightning. Jena Malone plays Mary, Mandy Moore plays Hilary Faye, and Macaulay Culkin, Patrick Fugit, Eva Amurri Martino and Heather Matarazzo are among the main cast.

Made for about 5 million dollars, the film took roughly 10 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds 6.7 out of 10 from around 51,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.4 out of 10 from about 530 votes. A critics' rating of 6.4 out of 10 from 145 reviews sits close to the audience scores, suggesting a modestly received but reasonably consistent response.
