Deuces Wild

Set in Brooklyn in the late 1950s, Deuces Wild centres on two brothers, Leon and Bobby, who lead a gang called the Deuces. After another brother died of a drug overdose, the pair set out to keep narcotics out of their neighbourhood. Their efforts put them on a collision course with the Vipers, a rival crew whose associates are determined to sell drugs in the area. Bobby's feelings for a young woman complicate matters further, since her family ties lead back to the opposing side, and a personal act of retaliation by Bobby brings trouble down on Leon and sharpens the standoff between the two groups.

Scott Kalvert directed the film, his second feature after The Basketball Diaries in 1995. The screenplay is by Paul Kimatian and Christopher Gambale, with Kimatian producing alongside Willi Bär and Michael Cerenzie. Stephen Dorff and Brad Renfro play Leon and Bobby, and the cast includes Fairuza Balk, Norman Reedus, Max Perlich and Drea de Matteo, among 62 credited performers and 73 credited crew members.

Released in May 2002, the film runs 96 minutes and was made for about 10 million dollars, earning roughly 6 million worldwide. On IMDb it holds 5.6 out of 10 from around 8,200 votes, and on TMDB 5.5 out of 10 from about 110 votes. A critics' rating of 3.4 out of 10 from 74 reviews places it below both audience scores.
