Barbie as the Island Princess

Barbie as the Island Princess tells the story of Rosella, a girl who is shipwrecked as a child and grows up on a tropical island cared for by three animal friends: Sagi, a red panda, Azul, a peacock, and Tika, a baby elephant. Through them she learns to speak and sing. When Prince Antonio arrives on the island, Rosella becomes curious about the past she cannot remember and decides to travel with him to his castle, bringing her animal companions along. In the kingdom they encounter a plot against the throne.

The film was directed by Greg Richardson, following Barbie and the Magic of Pegasus and Barbie in the 12 Dancing Princesses among his three directed features. Elana Lesser and Cliff Ruby wrote the screenplay, and the production was handled by Mattel and Rainmaker Entertainment. Kelly Sheridan voices Rosella, with Melissa Lyons providing her singing voice, while Alessandro Juliani plays Prince Antonio and Christopher Gaze, Steve Marvel and Susan Roman voice the three animals.

Released in September 2007 and running 85 minutes, the animated family film is rated 6.6 out of 10 on IMDb from around 6,000 votes, and 7.3 out of 10 on TMDB from roughly 789 votes, indicating a modest but favourable audience response.
