Frontier(s)

Set during a period of political turmoil in France, Frontier(s) follows a group of young criminals who carry out a robbery and then flee Paris as unrest spreads. One of them is wounded, and the gang splits up before arranging to meet at an isolated inn near the Belgian border. Among them is Yasmine, who is pregnant. The inn turns out to be run by a neo-Nazi family, and the fugitives find themselves at the mercy of people far more dangerous than the police pursuing them.

Xavier Gens wrote and directed the film, his first feature, followed the same year by Hitman. The cast includes Karina Testa as Yasmine, Samuel Le Bihan as Goëtz, Chems Dahmani, Aurélien Wiik, Patrick Ligardes and David Saracino. Laurent Tolleron produced the film, made with a budget of about 3 million dollars, and it went on to take roughly 17 million dollars worldwide.

Frontier(s) is a French production with American and Swiss involvement, running 108 minutes across the action, drama, horror and thriller genres. On IMDb it holds 6.2 out of 10 from around 31,000 votes, and on TMDB it also stands at 6.2 out of 10 from a smaller pool of 831 votes, so viewers and critics are broadly in line: a critics' rating of 6.6 out of 10 from 20 reviews places it slightly above the audience scores.
