Dungeons & Dragons: The Book of Vile Darkness

Grayson is a young warrior raised to follow a strict moral code, but his orderly life collapses when an unknown enemy attacks his order and his father disappears. With no body recovered, Grayson vows to find him, even if that means abandoning the principles he was raised on. His search forces him to join a band of thieves, among them Akordia, and to fight dragons and demons while keeping his true purpose hidden. The trail leads to Shathrax, a mind flayer who has taken his father and whose plans endanger the wider world. The story draws on the dark fantasy setting of the Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game.

The film is a television production directed by Gerry Lively, working from a screenplay by Brian Rudnick. It followed Lively's earlier Dungeons & Dragons film, Wrath of the Dragon God, and the drama Finish Line. Jack Derges plays Grayson, with Eleanor Gecks as Akordia, Anthony Howell as Ranfin, Habib Nasib Nader as Vimak, Barry Aird as Bezz and Charlotte Hunter as Carlotta. Made on a budget of about 12 million dollars, the film had a limited theatrical run before reaching television audiences.
