Beef is a Spanish drama and music film about Lati, a young woman of African descent living in Barcelona. After losing her father, who was a musician, she turns to rap as a source of comfort. Two years later, she aspires to find success in freestyle battles. This ambition puts her at odds with her strict mother, who views the art form as vulgar and hazardous. To overcome her limits and pursue her goals, Lati trains in secret with Judy, a former freestyle talent. The story explores Lati's internal struggles as she balances her personal growth with her desire to perform on stage.
The film was directed by Ingride Santos Piñol, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Lluís Segura. The production was handled by Filmin, Sábado Películas, and Playtime. The main cast features Latifa Drame in the role of Lati and Judith Álvarez as Judy. The movie has a runtime of 87 minutes.
