Set in Rwanda in 2012, the story follows Veneranda, a survivor of the 1994 Tutsi genocide. As the nation establishes community courts to foster reconciliation and justice, Veneranda facilitates dialogue between victims and the families of those who committed the killings. While these sessions offer healing for some, others view them as a betrayal, causing old traumas to resurface. The conflict becomes personal for Veneranda when she discovers her daughter is unexpectedly pregnant. The identity of the father forces her to confront her own contradictions and the darker aspects of her history.
