Resurrection

In a future where humans have traded the ability to dream for immortality, a solitary creature remains obsessed with the fading illusions of a dreamworld. This being struggles to distinguish reality from fantasy until a woman enters his life. She possesses the rare ability to perceive these visions and guides him through a century of existence. As they journey together, the creature revisits various identities and moments across the twentieth century.

The film was directed by Bi Gan, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Zhai Xiaohui. This project follows Bi Gan's previous films Kaili Blues, Long Day's Journey Into Night, and A Short Story. The movie stars Jackson Yee and Shu Qi, with supporting roles played by Mark Chao, Li Gengxi, Huang Jue, and Chen Yongzhong. A joint production between China and France, the film earned 28 million USD at the worldwide box office.
