Zero A.D.: The Birth of Christ

Upcoming historical thriller Zero A.D. follows the birth of Christ in Bethlehem. A prophecy suggests the child will end the reign of King Herod, prompting the ruler to order the killing of infants to secure his power. As Herod sends his son Antipater and an army to locate the baby, Mary and Joseph struggle to protect the child promised to change the course of history.

The film is directed by Alejandro Gómez Monteverde, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Rod Barr and Leo Severino. This production follows Monteverde's previous works, Little Boy, Sound of Freedom, and Cabrini. The movie is a joint effort between production companies from the United States and Morocco, including Angel Studios and Kasbah Films. The cast features Deva Cassel as Mary, Jamie Ward as Joseph, and Jim Caviezel as King Herod. Other primary roles are played by Sam Worthington as Antipater, Ben Mendelsohn as Nahash, and Gael García Bernal as Joachim. The film is produced by Leo Severino and Eduardo Verástegui.
