Minuscule: Valley of the Lost Ants

In a peaceful forest clearing, the leftovers of a picnic trigger a conflict between two rival ant colonies. A group of black ants attempts to transport a box of sugar back to their home, but they are pursued by aggressive red ants. A young ladybug becomes entangled in the struggle and forms a friendship with the leader of the black ants, assisting them in defending their colony from the red ant warriors.

The film was co-directed by Hélène Giraud and Thomas Szabo, who also wrote the screenplay. This production marks the first of two films directed by Giraud and Szabo, followed by Minuscule 2: Mandibles from Far Away in 2019. The voice cast includes John DeCantis, Sarah Cohen-Hadria, Suzy Wilson, and Jean-Paul Guyon.

Produced in Belgium and France with a budget of 20 million USD, the movie earned 30 million USD at the worldwide box office. Audience reception has been generally positive, with a rating of 7.1/10 on IMDb based on 9,600 votes and 7/10 on TMDB from 489 votes. These scores are slightly higher than the 6.7/10 rating provided by film critics.
