My Father's Shadow

Set in Lagos during the 1993 Nigerian election crisis, this drama follows two young brothers who spend a day in the city with their estranged father. As they navigate the vast urban environment, the boys observe the hardships their father faces to support them. The journey becomes increasingly dangerous as political unrest and violence break out across the city, complicating their efforts to return home safely.

Directed by Akinola Davies Jr., this was the first of two films he directed by 2026, preceding Spirit. The screenplay was co-written by Davies Jr. and Wale Davies. The production was a collaboration between companies from the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Nigeria, including BBC Film and Element Pictures. The cast features Sope Dirisu as Folarin, alongside Chibuike Marvellous Egbo and Godwin Egbo. A total of 24 credited actors and 45 crew members worked on the project.
