Junebug
Short description
Madeleine, a Chicago art dealer, travels south with her new husband, George, to meet an independent artist. George persuades her to stop in North Carolina so she can meet his family, whom she has never encountered. The visit brings her into a household far removed from her own life: George's mother, Peg, his quiet father, Eugene, his brother Johnny, and Johnny's pregnant wife, Ashley, who is close to giving birth. Madeleine and Ashley form a bond even as she clashes with the rest of the family and gains a clearer sense of who George is.
Junebug is a 2005 comedy-drama directed by Phil Morrison from a screenplay by Angus MacLachlan, produced by Mindy Goldberg and Mike S. Ryan through Epoch Films. It was Morrison's first feature, followed by All Is Bright in 2013. The cast includes Amy Adams as Ashley, Embeth Davidtz as Madeleine, Ben McKenzie as Johnny, Alessandro Nivola as George, Celia Weston as Peg and Scott Wilson as Eugene, among 34 credited performers.

What's left behind the scenes
- When first reviewing the script, Alessandro Nivola didn't notice that his character was supposed to sing an anthem. This was discovered only a few days before filming that very scene, when there was practically no time for rehearsals. Due to the film's limited budget, his singing was recorded live.
- Embeth Davidtz was cast as Madeline at the last moment and appeared on set literally the day before filming began.
