Sofia the First: Once Upon a Princess

Sofia the First: Once Upon a Princess follows a young girl whose life changes when her mother marries King Roland II. She moves into the castle, gains a stepfather and two step-siblings, Amber and James, and begins learning what it means to be a princess. Her new life brings lessons in royal behaviour, magic and friendship, including a magical amulet that lets her talk to animals. Sofia also has to win over her new family while attending a school for royalty, where three fairy teachers guide her.

The film serves as the introduction to the Sofia the First series, produced by Disney Television Animation and Disney Junior and written by Craig Gerber. Jamie Mitchell directed it, placing it fourth among the films he directed, between The Land Before Time XIII: The Wisdom of Friends and Elena and the Secret of Avalor. Ariel Winter voices Sofia, with Sara Ramirez as Queen Miranda, Travis Willingham as King Roland II, Jim Cummings as Wormwood, Jennifer Hale as Cinderella and Ashley Eckstein as Mia the Bluebird, among a credited cast of 24.

Running 47 minutes, it was released on 18 November 2012. Audience scores are positive: 6.7 out of 10 on IMDb from over 900 votes, and 7.4 out of 10 on TMDB from roughly 130 votes, indicating a well-liked children's title with a modest but appreciative viewer base.
