Short description
The Butterfly Effect 2 follows Nick Larson, whose life is shattered when a car crash kills his girlfriend Julie and two close friends while he survives. Struggling with grief and disturbing seizures, Nick eventually realizes he can travel back into his own past through his memories. He sets out to undo the accident and bring the people he lost back, but each change he makes to what came before ripples into a present that turns out very differently from what he intended.
The film is a sequel to the 2004 thriller and was directed by John R. Leonetti, the second of seven features he directed, arriving between Mortal Kombat: Annihilation and Annabelle. Michael D. Weiss wrote the screenplay, and Chris Bender, A.J. Dix and J.C. Spink produced. Eric Lively plays Nick, with Erica Durance as Julie, Dustin Milligan as Trevor, Gina Holden as Amanda and Susan Hogan as Katherine Larson.
Made for a budget of 6 million dollars, the film runs 92 minutes. Its reception has been modest: on IMDb it holds a rating of 4.5 out of 10 from around 39,000 votes, and on TMDB a rating of 5 out of 10 from roughly a thousand votes. Audience scores on both platforms sit in the lower range.
What's left behind the scenes
- At the very beginning, when Nick is about to carry Julia away in his arms, Julia zips up her jacket so that nothing sticks out from under the collar. Later, when Nick puts Julia down, a pink turtleneck or hooded sweatshirt is visible sticking out from under the collar. Also, during the conversation on the rocks, Julia's hair constantly lies differently on the hood (view from behind).
- When Julia scolds Nick for getting fired in the next life, a blue cup suddenly appears next to her laptop.
