Camp Hope is a summer camp for overweight boys, run by a kind couple who let the campers enjoy themselves and their snacks without judgment. That changes when a fitness fanatic named Tony takes over the camp and imposes a harsh exercise and diet regime. The boys, led by Gerry and his friends, resent being pushed to the point of exhaustion and losing the treats they count on, so they turn the tables on their new owner.

Steven Brill directed and co-wrote the film with Judd Apatow; it was Brill's first feature as director, followed later by films such as Little Nicky, Mr. Deeds and Drillbit Taylor. The cast includes Aaron Schwartz as Gerry, Tom McGowan as Pat, David Goldman as Nicholas, Joseph Wayne Miller as Sam, Cody Burger as Cody and Allen Covert as Kenny. Produced by Walt Disney Pictures and Caravan Pictures on a budget of about 10 million dollars, it took in roughly 18 million worldwide.

On IMDb it holds a 6.6 rating from around 30,000 votes, while on TMDB it has a 6.2 from several hundred. A small set of critics' reviews averages 5 out of 10, below the audience scores.
