Doctor Strange
Short description
Stephen Strange is a talented but arrogant neurosurgeon whose career ends after a car accident leaves him unable to perform surgery. In his search for a cure, he travels to Tibet and encounters the Ancient One, a master of the occult. Under this mentorship, Strange learns secret mystical arts and ancestral practices to transform his life. He eventually uses these powers to protect the world from the forces of evil and the ambitions of Dormammu, who seeks to enter the human dimension.
This 2007 American animated film was directed by Dick Sebast, Jay Oliva, and Patrick Archibald. It is the third film directed by Sebast, following The Secret of NIMH 2: Timmy to the Rescue and Ultimate Avengers 2. For Oliva, this is the first of 13 directed works, followed by The Invincible Iron Man, which Archibald also directed after this project. Produced by Marvel Studios, Lionsgate, and MLG Productions 4, the movie features a screenplay by Greg Johnson. The voice cast includes Bryce Johnson as Strange, Paul Nakauchi as Wong, Kevin Michael Richardson as Mordo, Michael Yama as the Ancient One, Susan Spano as Dr. Gina Atwater, and Jonathan Adams as Dormammu. The film has received generally positive feedback from viewers, holding a 6.6 rating on IMDb based on 9,200 votes and a 6.7 rating on TMDB from 357 votes.
What's left behind the scenes
- At the end of the film, Wong mentions a woman named Clea to Doctor Strange. In the comics, Clea was Dormammu's niece, who later became Doctor Strange's wife.
- In the comics, Doctor Strange had a younger sister named Donna. In the film, she appears under the name April.
