Set in Eastern Siberia during the late 1940s, this adventure drama follows a land-surveying expedition nearing the end of its research. The mission is interrupted when reports emerge regarding people vanishing near Yambuy. The expedition leader and a radioman venture into the remote wilderness to find the missing individuals, receiving assistance from local Evenk hunters. As the search party navigates the dangerous terrain, they discover that the disappearances are the work of a man-eating bear.
The film was produced in the Soviet Union by Gorky Film Studios and was released on August 25, 1977. It was written and directed by Boris Buneev. The cast features Yuri Zabarovsky as the expedition chief Grigory Fedoseev, alongside Rodna Yeshonov, Olga Yenzak, Filimon Sergeyev, Vladimir Kruglov, and Aleksandr Kavalerov.
