Harry Madox arrives in a small Texas town with no explanation of where he came from or what he did before. He takes a job selling used cars, and before long he draws the attention of two women: Gloria Harper, who handles loans at the local bank, and Dolly Harshaw, the wife of his employer. At the same time, he is quietly making preparations to rob that same bank.
Dennis Hopper directed the film, which followed Colors in his filmography and was released in 1990. Charles Williams and Nona Tyson wrote the screenplay, and Paul Lewis produced it for Orion Pictures, Kopelson Entertainment and Arnold Kopelson Productions. Don Johnson plays Harry, with Virginia Madsen as Dolly, Jennifer Connelly as Gloria, Charles Martin Smith as Lon Gulick, William Sadler as Frank Sutton and Jerry Hardin as George Harshaw.
The film runs 130 minutes. It earned about 1 million dollars worldwide, a modest return. On IMDb it holds 8 out of 10 from a very small number of votes, while on TMDB it has 6.3 out of 10 from several hundred. A critics' rating of 6.1 out of 10 from 28 reviews places it close to the audience score on TMDB.
