Short description
Follow a group of international journalists into the heart of the once cosmopolitan city of Sarajevo—now a danger zone of sniper and mortar attacks where residents still live. While reporting on an American aid worker who’s trying to get children out of the country, a British correspondent decides to take an orphaned girl home to London.
What's left behind the scenes
- Stephen Dillane is personally acquainted with Michael Nicholson, the author of the book that served as the film's literary source and the prototype for the character Michael Henderson. He believes that Nicholson truly performed a heroic feat, yet he always preferred to keep his distance from him, as he wanted the film to present a broader panorama. He felt that focusing solely on the story of a valiant British reporter saving someone from a burning orphanage would be an insult to an entire people who had so recently endured terrible pain and suffering.
