In a future shaped by a war that brought ancient kingdoms back and pushed modern technology out of use, the filmmaker Kuve travels to Umata to document what remains. There he meets Mumbi, whose challenge pushes him to work without artificial intelligence and to rely on his own hands, eyes and heart. Searching for his own voice in a world disconnected from the networks, he comes to see that even a broken place can hold beauty in brief human moments.
Memory of Princess Mumbi is a romance and science fiction film from Kenya, Saudi Arabia and Switzerland, released in May 2026 and running 79 minutes. Damien Hauser directed from his own screenplay and produced; the cast includes Shandra Apondi, Ibrahim Joseph, Samson Waithaka, Michael Garama, Newton Ronnoh and Hauser himself.
The title is one of several features Hauser has directed, made with the Red Sea Fund, Out of My Mind Films and Hauserfilm GmbH. On IMDb it holds 6.6 out of 10 from 62 votes, a modest score from a small audience sample that suggests a limited viewership rather than a widely seen release.
