Flood

Set in communist Czechoslovakia, this historical drama follows a teenage girl named Mara who hopes to move to the city to study and train as a pilot. Her father, a widowed farmer of Ruthenian descent, opposes her ambitions and wants her to remain home to manage the land. Their tension grows as the construction of a new dam threatens to flood and destroy their village, highlighting a clash between ancestral traditions and the pursuit of personal autonomy.

The film was directed by Martin Gonda, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Martin Šuster and Dominika Udvorková. The production was a collaboration between companies from Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Poland, and Belgium. The cast is led by Sara Chripáková in the role of Mara, appearing alongside Jozef Pantlikáš, Katarína Babejová, Vladimíra Štefániková, Michal Soltész, and Vlado Čema.
